Kelly's Korner - Show Us Your Singles - Lacey: Age 29, Georgia

Today on a blog, Kelly's Korner, there is a link up to share a post about a single friend.
So I thought of my sweet friend Lacey, I asked her permission of course before doing this.
Lacey and I have been friends for 20 years and I couldn't ask for a better friend. She is a person who loves the Lord and has such a sweet spirit.
She loves her family (she has a great family), her job as a camper and alumni coordinator for a christian camp, she cares about fitness and teaches body pump as well as doing cross fit. She is creative, loves to cook and entertain. Here are a few pictures to tell you a little more.
Lacey's sweet smile.

She is the one in the purple.

Lacey is a Florida Gator's fan.

If you are looking to meet a girl who loves the Lord, is sweet, enjoys to be outside and knows how to have fun then you should get in touch with Lacey.

Deck Decorating Part 2

Well we have continued working on the deck... and we are working on refinishing our chairs.

This is the before... see the fabric... not very comfortable.

After we took the seat out.

Priming the chairs... Micah thought he would take a picture of me to prove that I do some of the work.

Primed with gray.

Finished in black.

Micah helping me sew the new seat. We used outdoor fabric.
Before and after!

Three more chairs to go and we will have our new chairs!
It is raining today so we can't enjoy them yet but soon they will be used every day.

Strawberry Jam/Jelly Take 1

I know I have already written about the strawberries we have here... so I thought I would try and bottle some up to send back to Georgia. I had big plans to make some jam this week. This was my first attempt at making jam and canning it, I had all of my ingredients ready and thought I had figured out the correct amount of pectin to use. Turns out I need more practice... my jam turned out to be more of a jelly (if you want to call it that) I would say it is more like syrup. It tastes delicious the consistency is just off a bit. So hopefully this week or next week I will be attempting strawberry jam for the second time.

Deck Decorating

We have an amazing deck on our house but we just haven't quite figured out the best way to utilize it.

Here are some pictures from the slow but steady transformation:

Micah getting ready to put together some new furniture.
Our deck used to be a mismatched, cluttered area of furniture... half of it you can't use b/c it is worn out.

We are going to redo the fabric in these chairs, spray paint the frame and get a table for this corner.
This is my new favorite spot... crazy good deal on furniture from World Market.

We are getting a sun sail to cover the porch so we can use it all parts of the day and during hot summer days. I'll keep posting pictures as we continue to update the deck.

Sweet Moments

Sometimes in life we are faced with circumstances that are challenging. As we turn to the  Lord in these places He has a gracious way of taking these moments and cultivating within us a heart of thankfulness.
I have been focused on being thankful this week and yesterday I was blessed by catching my boys in a sweet moment. I was able to snap a few pictures without them knowing. All they were doing was sitting together eating a snack but the love that I witnessed between them made me smile and thank God for All things.

Enjoying the backyard and some trail mix.
Grant laughing... I wish I remembered what he was laughing about.

I am pretty sure they were teasing each other.

They were sharing and playing and had no idea I was watching.
Then out came the water guns.

They have so much fun together. I am so thankful for them!

Romans 8:28

28 And we know that [a]God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Yosemite

We spent the weekend in Yosemite National Park.
Yosemite has been on our California bucket list since before we moved here.
I am still amazed by the beauty of God's creation and so thankful I was able to see it in person.

We left Friday morning around 9am and by 2:30pm we were in Yosemite.

I hope you enjoy our pictures... there are a few but I just couldn't pick any to leave out.

This is the West Entrance off of 140.
We stayed at a hotel 2 miles from this entrance along the Merced river.

This is Bridalveil Fall.
We made it to the park when all of the waterfalls were at their peak.
By August or September they will all be dried up.

This is Yosemite Fall and the Merced River.

This area is called Swinging Bridge.
It was a beautiful spot in a meadow in the valley floor.

Another picture of Yosemite Fall.

The boys had to see how cold the water was.
I was amazed at how calm the river was here compared to other places.

Off on a walk.

We hiked to Lower Yosemite Fall.

This is the lower falls.

MJ really wanted his picture taken.
It was really windy and we were getting hit with the mist from the waterfall.

Micah is picking up the boys but if you look closely above his head you can see a rainbow.
I hope you can see a rainbow because I see one... but I could be seeing things.

Lower Yosemite Falls.

Photo op climbing on rocks on our way back down.

Grant is making a really funny face.
Here you can kind of see Upper Yosemite Fall and Lower Yosemite Fall.

This is a better view of both falls.

This is called Tunnel View.
On Saturday we took a 2 hour open tram tour of the valley floor.
We learned a lot about what we were looking at and the history of how Yosemite came to be.
It was really interesting and the boys did a great job, it helped that we got out a couple of times.

Here is a better picture of the top, middle and lower Yosemite Falls.

In this picture there is North Dome, Washington Column and the Royal Arches.

Here we took a hike to Happy Isles where you go from island to island in the Merced River.
The boys (including Micah) had fun stepping from rock to rock.
MJ got his shoes a little wet but he said it was worth it.

This is taken in front of the Yosemite museum.

This is taken in the Mariposa Grove.
This is the root system of a giant Sequoia.
Mariposa Grove is located near the Southern Gate into Yosemite.

MJ just wanted to walk through a tree... he got his wish.
They are hard to see but Micah, MJ and Grant are standing in the tree.

MJ and I outside of the tree.

We took this just to show how incredibly big these trees are.

This is the view from the patio at our hotel.
There were really high railings keeping everyone safe.
This is the Merced River, the same river that goes through Yosemite valley.

We took 120 home which is more of a scenic route.
It was very curvy but we saw some really cute towns and ate lunch at a great restaurant in Placerville.

We had a great weekend and didn't even see a third of Yosemite.
The boys didn't want to go home.
MJ wanted to stay and go for a trail ride on the horses.
